This ritual occurs at the groom’s house. The mother of the groom has a glass of water in her hand, which she circles 5 times around her bahu (daughter-in-law) and then makes a mock move to drink her water. Her son is supposed to stop her before she can drink it. Then the bride and groom must touch the feet of the elders in a ceremony called ‘matha tekna‘ in order to gain their blessings for a long and happy marriage. The rest of the evening is spent in playing enjoyable traditional games.
